Background and Client Requests

The client requested to build one of its city block as a platform of an integrated smart city, where a new industrial development is driven by Global Value Chain (GVC), linking with the nearby Science Valley and an Industrial Complex. The aim of the project was to achieve revitalization of manufacturing in the city by identifying industries that can elevate its infrastructure for innovation and drawing a GVC-led development strategies.

Key To Way’s Approach

Upon client’s request, Key To Way has developed GVC strategies to pursue new industries to drive the city’s manufacturing revitalization through the following four main tasks:

  • Analyze the industrial policies of major countries and the industrial structure of the city in responding to the Fourth Industrial Revolution

  • Evaluate the necessity and growth prospects of the city based on quantitative and qualitative measures and determine potential industries with greater competitive advantages

  • Develop GVC strategic plans for the city by analyzing industrial development system of major countries and complexities to execute the strategies in current circumstances of the city

  • Establish custom strategies for each industry with different growth prospects and build an innovative ecosystem of the city’s industries

Outcome

  • Following the social and technological changes resulted from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Key To Way specified the most promising industries to innovate the city’s industrial structure, the GVC strategic plans for each industry and, the custom strategies for the city’s capacities to build an innovative ecosystem of its industries.
